The Prototype's Purpose Determines the Technology
Purpose Suitable Technology Why
Functional testing (strength, assembly) SLS / MJF Isotropic, durable, functional
Final pre-series validation SLS / MJF / SLA Same process and material as the series part
Metallic behavior / thermal-structural testing Metal 3D printing Closest behavior to the final material
Appearance / ergonomics / fit SLA High resolution, smooth surface
Not every prototype is built for the same purpose. The right prototype is shaped by the criterion you want to validate. The wrong technology produces either an unnecessarily expensive part, or an idle one that doesn't serve the purpose. We clarify the purpose first, then choose the technology.
